to the website of Jens Leifeld. I am a scientist specialized in soil carbon, biological carbon sinks, and agricultural greenhouse gas emissions.               In addition to the actual research, I am also interested in the interface to application, e.g.:

• Assessment of offset projects in the field of soil carbon and greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture

• Evaluation of measures based on the use of biochar

• Model-based simulation of carbon content in agricultural soils

• Estimation of trade-offs in the areas of leakage, nitrous oxide, and methane

• Evaluation of measures in the area of ​​organic soils/peatlands

​The photo shows a degraded organic soil with heavily decomposed peat in the canton of Bern. The roots above the soil were originally underground and indicate peat loss.
